Char Dham Yatra :- In accordance with the Hindu mythology the four most holy pilgrimages of Uttarakhand namely – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Shri Kedarnath and shri Badrinath, collectively known as the Char dham, are the most sacred of all pilgrimages in India and world wide. For centuries, saints and pilgrims, in their search for the divine, have walked these mystical valleys known in ancient Hindu scriptures as ‘Kedarkhand’ if the scriptures of HINDU RELIGION are to be believed, the pilgrimage of holy centers of these four sacred spots is a life changing event.
It is believed that undertaking a journey to these places will not only wash away one’s sins but also releases one from the cycle of re-birth. It is said that Heaven and Earth converge in these holy spots. In fact the gateway for Char-Dham yatra commences from Hardwar to Yamunotri, going on to Gangotri followed by Kedarnath and the journey culminating at Badrinath. This route follows the Hindu tradition of Parikrama (complete circle).
